When the subject is prone to thick, vivid impastos, Roxane Dutheil uses oil or acrylic paintings to capture the shapes and colors of the landscape. For instance, the two pieces of the Holland series (Windmill and Sunset and Ice Skater on the Canal) show the hidden beauty of the Dutch landscapes, as the artist has lived in the Netherlands for eleven years. The Walk Along the Balcony series show the light and sky as felt a day after the long awaited rain fell on Tarragona, just after the storm as the blue Mediterranean sky breaks through. Dramatic skylights and clouds are a big source of inspiration.
